We discovered a cool place to get a hearty breakfast in Fernandina Beach. The Beach Diner offers great food and quick, friendly service! Check it out!
Florida Restaurants
That One Spot
It’s no secret that quality restaurants in Ocoee are few and far between. That’s why That One Spot is such a diamond in the rough! I recommend the salmon burger with fries. Check it out!
Zaza New Cuban Diner
For authentic and delicious Cuban cuisine, I recommend Zaza New Cuban Diner. We visited the Altamonte Springs location, but there are also four other Zaza locales in Central Florida. Seek it out!
Lazy Moon Pizza
We finally got an opportunity to check out Lazy Moon Pizza in Orlando and had a great experience! The pizza slices are absolutely huge and delicious. We also sampled the hummus plate and caprese salad. They also have a nice craft beer selection. We visited the East Colonial Drive location just west of Mills Avenue. A second location can be found on University Boulevard near UCF. Highly recommended!
Antonio’s Maitland
One of our favorite dining spots in Central Florida is Antonio’s Market & Cafe. Although there is a formal dining room upstairs, we enjoy the casual, bustling atmosphere downstairs. I recommend the margherita pizza with a glass of Cabernet, although you can’t go wrong with any of the menu offerings. After lunch, we cross the street for a stroll around scenic Lake Lily. Check it out!
Tony’s Chowder House
We finally made it to Tony’s Chowder House in downtown Mount Dora last Saturday. Great food and service! I recommend the award-winning clam chowder and the blackened fish sandwich. We’ll definitely be back soon!
Blue Heaven
A Key West landmark, Blue Heaven is our favorite breakfast spot on the island. I had the lobster and cheddar omelette, which was outstanding! Another one of my recommendations is the lobster BLT benny. Don’t leave without sampling the incredible banana bread. Blue Heaven is located just 2 blocks off Duval at the corner or Petronia and Thomas streets.
Geiger Key Marina
A hidden gem (we drove right past the exit and kept cruising down the Overseas Highway the first time we tried to find it!), the Geiger Key Marina, RV Park & Fish Camp lives up to its reputation as “the way the Keys used to be.” We stopped here for lunch on our way to Key West. Great waterfront view, good drink selection and outstanding food (I highly recommend the Seared Tuna Nachos). Oh yeah, we bought some cool T-shirts as well. In fact, this place was one of the highlights of our Keys trip!
Tarpon River Brewing

We enjoyed a nice lunch (along with some great craft brews!) at Tarpon River Brewing in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale over the weekend. It’s a huge, inviting open-air gastropub (formerly an 11,000-square-foot horse barn called Snyder Stables). I had a pint of the InZane Lager and Amber to Center Stage. Both were amazing! The veggie wrap hit the spot as well. We’ll definitely be back next time we visit South Florida.
The Whole Enchilada

One of the coolest places in downtown Winter Garden, The Whole Enchilada Fresh Mexican Grill has something for everyone! We like to retreat to the outdoor deck/bar on the roof and relax with some ice-cold draft beers. This time around I ordered the Tree Hugger (whole wheat tortilla filled with tofu, Mexican rice, black or pinto beans, jack & cheddar cheese, lettuce, avocado and pico de gallo). Absolutely delicious!
